VAI is assisting the City of Salem with their Comprehensive Parks System Master Plan Update.  The prior plan was completed in 1999, with an intended 10-year plan period.  The CPSMP update process began in 2007, but was stalled due to staff turnover at the City.  Salem resumed the process in January 2011 with VAI as the lead planner.  Project tasks include an existing facility inventory, planning goals and policy development, public involvement and outreach, funding strategy development, and development of the final plan report.  In addition to a close collaborative working relationship with city staff, VAI also is meeting monthly with a large and diverse public task force.  VAI will also be presenting to the Salem Parks Advisory Board, City Council, Planning Commission and numerous Neighborhood Associations throughout the planning process.
