TRI-MET
As part of an on-call contract, VAI is assisting TriMet with stormwater system assessment and planning for its facilities in the Metro area. VAI’s work activities include:
- Reviewing existing Underground Injection Control (UIC) registration records, reports, and construction drawings;
- Performing field reviews to locate (with GPS) and describe UIC systems and their settings;
Updating inventory records and maps; developing criteria for prioritizing UIC systems for further management;
- Developing an outline for a TriMet UIC System Management Plan;
Preparing an application for a Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF) UIC Permit from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).
VAI has also evaluated the performance of a variety of facilities for TriMet including catch basins, sediment manholes, filter vaults, bioswales, detention ponds, and open compost filters. VAI is preparing a comprehensive report that will review each system’s condition, identify any deficiencies, and if needed recommend an approach to improve the system. These water quality improvements will help TriMet continue to meet requirements of the NPDES Stormwater Permit.
Also as part of this contract, VAI provided preliminary designs for stormwater improvements at TriMet's Merlo Garage site. Services included assessing stormwater infrastructure and providing a hydrologic review to determine existing water quality and flood frequency flow rates. VAI summarized these reviews into a pre-design report specifying how to optimize stormwater facility performance and designed a bioswale rehabilitation plan. For the bioswale implementation, VAI teamed with a landscape contractor for the installation of 1,300 native plants. |
